U6 & U8 Mite Registration Now Open

TCYHA Family,

We have opened U6 and U8 Mite registration.  U6 Mite is for players aged 5 and 6 in 2016 and U8 Mite is for players aged 7 and 8 in 2016.  We will keep our format from the previous season.

U6 Mites in 2016-2017 will be a half-ice, local league program.  Practices will be once a week starting in November and twice a week from December to February, totaling about 32 practices.  Weekly, cross-ice games are planned between TCYHA and Groton for about 16 games including 6 or 7 in Fitchburg.

U8 Mites in 2016-2017 will be a half-ice, local league plus full sheet games in the Westborough league.  Practices will be once a week starting in October and twice a week from December to February, totaling about 38 practices.  Weekly, cross-ice games are planned between TCYHA and Groton (about 16) plus full-sheet games in the Westborough league (10 games plus playoffs) starting part way through the season.

Due to positive response, we have worked to allow more players into the Mite program for the 2016-2017 season, but we ask that you register as soon as possible so that we're able to gauge how many teams we will need for the season.

Please Register Online using our website and let us know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Twin City Youth Hockey

10th Annual TCYHA Golf Tournament

Current and Alumni TCYHA Families,

This email not only goes out to our current 2015-16 and 2016-17 TCYHA families, but includes are past TCYHA alumni who helped make our program #1 in Central Mass!!!!

If you haven't heard, the Board of Directors is hosting Twin City Youth Hockey's 10th Annual golf tournament being held Friday June 17th @ Townsend Ridge CC in Townsend, MA. It's a shotgun/scramble style tournament with 8:30am tee off followed by lunch, raffles and silent auction (Sox/Bruin's game tickets and autographed Boston sports memorabilia). If you have or know someone that has Bruins/Red Sox/Celtics/Patriots tickets they are willing to donate to the silent auction, that would be awesome as these are usually high sellers.

The golf tournament is our main source of fundraising for the organization! We do not ask the kids to sell candy, magazines or other fundraising products, but instead use the golf tournament as a fun and relaxing (for some) way to help the organization.  Proceeds will help defray the cost of expensive protective equipment for families who may not be able to afford it, as well as reduce the cost of ice rental for practices, games and clinics and keep the program cost per child at a reasonable rate.

Quick reminder that our fundraising golf tournament is 59 days away (June 17th). If you are planning or know someone that is planning on playing, have them sign up soon and pay via check or credit card (contact  ) as we need to notify the golf course of headcount for dinner after golf. We will accept payment at the course the day of the tournament, but prefer payment in advance. We need a big push for golfers and sponsors to make this one of our most successful fundraisers ever!!

You can sign up your team or be a sponsor from our tournament website. If you are having problems registering, email or call me and I will add them to the website for you:

If you have any questions about the golf tournament, would like to sponsor or would like to volunteer, contact:

Registration Now Open Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, Midget 2016-2017

TCYHA Family,

REMINDER -- This is the final reminder before Player Skills evaluations start next week.  If you have not yet registered, please do so ASAP.  Please see the player evaluation table below.  I will be sending an email to each division with which Player Skills hour to attend soon.

You need to register to secure a spot!  We had to use a waitlist last season, so please don't wait to register.  You are only guaranteed a spot if you register.

Midget Evaluations will be held on April 24 at 2pm and 3pm at Cushing Academy.  You will receive an email with which session to attend.  We are also asking that Midget Goalies attend the 3/23 session.

Finally -- We're reminding 2002 year players to sign up for Bantam unless there is NO chance that your player would play full season.  We're working on the possibility of 2002 players being able to be in the Midget division, but are not sure that we can make the budget and ice available.  We don't want people to fall through the cracks.  Thanks!

Registration is now open for Squirt, Peewee, Bantam & Midget for the 2016-2017 season.  Due to the rising costs of ice, we have had to apply a modest increase in tuition.  We are asking that players register as soon as possible in order to determine final team counts and sizes.

Please consult the table below for divisions and eligibility:

Divison Birth Years Tuition Deposit Due
Squirt 2006 & 2007 $1,675 $200 ($75 evaluation fee + $125 deposit)
Peewee 2004 & 2005 $1,675 $200 ($75 evaluation fee + $125 deposit)
Bantam 2002 & 2003 $1,675 $200 ($75 evaluation fee + $125 deposit)
Midget 1998 - 2001 $675 $200 ($75 evaluation fee + $125 deposit)

A $200 deposit (including a $75 non-refundable Player Evaluation fee and a $125 refundable, tuition deposit) is due at the time of registration.  Please register online at our website.

See below for our Player Evaluation schedule.  Please remember that Twin City Youth Hockey does not cut players.  Our evaluations are for proper placement of players on teams.  All players will have a spot.  Player Evaluations are conducted anonymously by an outside group (Peak Performance).  Players will be wearing pinnies and will only be known to the evaluators by a number.  Final evaluation is a scored based on skills evaluations plus scrimmage evaluation.

Here is an outline of the process.

  • Each player must rate as either a Player or a Goalie.  This is a long standing policy out of fairness to all involved.
  • Each player must attend their Skills, Scrimmage, and Coaching Selection Scrimmage.
  • Each player will only attend a single hour for each session.
  • Goalies must attend the Goalie Skills session.
  • Goalies are asked to attend player Skills sessions, but are not being evaluated.
  • Goalies are asked to attend player Scrimmage and Coaching Selection Scrimmage as a part of their evaluation.

Remember that we will tell you in advance which hour to attend.  You will only be asked to attend one hour for each session.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

New Members -- Import your schedule into Google Calendar
TCYHA Family,

Many of you already are doing so, but for those who have not yet, here is a video explaining how you can add your team's schedule directly into your Google Calendar so that it is available on your Android smart phone or computer.

New Members -- Accessing Schedules
TCYHA Family,

Welcome new members.  There have been many questions recently on accessing schedules for your team, particularly from new players in either No Player Left Behind, Learn to Skate, and House Hockey.  Accessing your schedule is easy.

To do so, use the Team menu above in the horizontal navigation menu.  From there, choose select Choose a Team, your division, and then your team.  For example, U11 No Player Left behind would be Team -> No Player Left Behind -> U11 NPLB.

You will also begin to receive email notifications approximately two days before each scheduled practice or game.  The email will let you know the date, time, and rink that you will be at.  For those that are new, there are two rinks at the Civic Center, Gaetz and Landry.  The Gaetz is the rink closest to the street.  Landry is next to the Gaetz and is separated by the parking lot.

Best Regards,
Twin City Youth Hockey

Why Twin City?
Just a few of the reasons that make TCYHA the right choice...
  • Significant ice time by level with Mite** having 15* half-ice games and 20 ADM practices, Squirt, Peewee, & Bantam having 35* games 45 practices, Midget 10 games, 10 practices,  plus additional hours available for clinics like our free Goalie Camp and Hockey Development.
  • Competitive play against a wide variety of teams (over 600!) means your child will always be improving.
  • Flexible payment options gives you the choice of what is easiest for your family.
  • Great kids, great parents means you'll have a positive, fun experience as a part of our family.
  • All Coaches are certified via USA Hockey Coaching Education Program.
* Game counts are approximate and subject to minor change as dictated by Valley League schedule.
** Under USA Hockey rules, Mite program will be half-ice games played between TCYHA and Groton Junior Youth Hockey
